0368310501 - Computational Structural Biology
The course will deal with prediction, comparison and analysis of structure and function of proteins. We will present algorithms that have been developed to tackle major structural biology tasks, and demonstrate their application. Major topics include:
1. Representation of protein structures
2.The physical forces that stabilize proteins and macromolecular complexes.
3. Algorithms for protein sequence alignment.
4. Algorithms for the prediction of the three dimensional structure of proteins from their sequence (folding).
5. Protein structural alignment.
6. Prediction of bio-molecular recognition and the 3D structures of the bio-complexes. For example, protein-protein docking.
7. Prediction of protein function using sequence and structural analysis.
8. Prediction of multimolecular assembly structures by integrating experimental data at different resolutions from (high resolution) X-ray crystallography to (low resolution) electron microscopy (EM).
