בצורותיהם המקובלות, התיאטרון נשען על טקסט ופעולה דרמטית, והמחול על תנועה ריקודית. אך הגילויים העכשוויים של שתי האמנויות, כפי שהם מקבלים ביטוי מהמחצית השנייה של המאה ה-20 בסוגות כמו תיאטרון-מחול או תיאטרון-חזותי, מצביעים על זליגה בין מרכיבי היסוד של כל אחד מהמדיומים והתמוססות של הגבולות ביניהם. הקורס יתבונן בחלקו הראשון על תיאטרון ועל מחול כשתי צורות של מופע חי, המפעילות מרכיבים דומים – גוף, חלל, אובייקטים, זמן, אור וסאונד – בהתאם למוסכמות המדיומליות והאסתטיות של הסוגות שהתפתחו בכל אחת מהאמנויות על ציר הזמן. בחלקו השני של הקורס, נתמקד ב'שפה' של מספר מקרי בוחן, שמפגישים בין יצירת דימוי בפעולה ובתנועה לבין צורות מופע עכשוויות: 'מופעי איברים' במחול בן זמננו, בהם הגוף מופיע את החומריות, האנטומיה והפיזיולוגיה של עצמו; פרפורמנס במרחב הציבורי שהופך את הרחוב לבמה ואת ההפגנה למופע (או להפך); ומופעים הקשורים ב'נופי' סאונד ותאורה בהם המרכיב המדיומלי הוא צורה ותוכן, אך גם רפלקציה על האמנות כולה.

 

0861110601 - The Stage Language of Theatre and Dance 

In their traditional forms, the theatre is based on a text and a dramatic action, and dance – on stylized movement. But the contemporary expressions of both arts, as evident from the 2^nd half of the 20^th century in genres such as dance-theatre or visual theatre, point to a flow of fundamental elements from one medium to the other, and the dissolving borders between them. The first part of the course will observe theatre and dance as two forms of live performance utilizing similar components – body, space, objects, time, light and sound – in accordance with the generic and aesthetic conventions that have evolved in each medium throughout its historic timeline. In the second part of the course, we will focus on the 'language' of several test cases that compose an image in action and movement with contemporary performative forms: 'organ performances' in contemporary dance, where the body performs its materiality, anatomy and physiology; performance in public spaces that transforms the street into a stage and the protest into performance (or the other way around); and performances involving sound and light 'landscapes', where these components serve as both form and content, but also a reflection on the art in general.
