Welcome to our course! This course explores the significance of “Indian” images in American culture in changing historical, social, political and cultural contexts. It examines the ways in which America imagines indigenous people and spaces and raises questions regarding stereotypical and authentic representations. Readings include works written both by and about Native Americans from various periods in American history.
